Walnut Creek Country Club has a rich history going back over 55 years.
In 1955, the original owners constructed the Farmington Country Club at the corner of Haggerty and Twelve Mile Roads.
By 1960, the club had grown to 245 members.
The Farmington Country Club hosted the Michigan PGA Championship in 1961 and the Michigan Open in 1961 and 1962.
In 1982, the members voted to change the club name to Farmington Hills Country Club.
In 1983, due to the road widening of Haggerty and Twelve Mile Roads, the membership considered a property exchange to the north side of Twelve Mile Road. This move never came to fruition because of conflicts with property developers. By 1987, the existing 133+ acre property was sold off in parcels.

In 1987, the Club purchased Godwin Glen, a 27-hole golf course in the Charter Township of Lyon. The Club assumed occupancy of the 243 acre club in October. An adjacent 89+ acres was also purchased for future expansion. At the Annual Meeting in December, the club name was changed to Walnut Creek Country Club by a vote of the membership.
In 1988, the membership voted to increase the number of Regular Members to 375.
In 1990, the bylaws were amended to provide for 399 Regular Members.

Walnut Creek Country Club retained world-renowned golf course architect, Arthur Hills, to design and renovate the existing course. In 1995, the North Nine opened and Walnut Creek Country Club became an official Arthur Hills signature course. |

In 2007, Walnut Creek contracted golf course architect Paul Albanese to enhance the West Course. He has also created a master plan for future renovations to the course. |
We have continually invested in numerous improvements and enhancements to Walnut Creek Country Club, including the clubhouse which was built in 1989. The facilities and grounds have been maintained to meet the highest standards.
The Junior Golf Program, Junior Tennis Team and Junior Swim Team continue to be among the largest and most active programs in the state of Michigan. They have been frequent Inter-Club Champions and won the Tri-County finals many times.
Today, we have maintained a strong financial position, without assessments in the last five years, along with a near capacity membership.
